Story

After more than 165 years, Lincoln University prides itself in fulfilling the promise upon which the institution was founded -- to provide access to education as a means to liberation. Simply put, we commit to ensuring that all who attend our institution leave with lessons, experiences, confidence and critical thinking skills needed to liberate themselves and their communities.

We've seen the promise come to fruition through the thousands of Lincoln University graduates -- past and present -- who have gone on to affect positive and lasting change across the nation and around the world. And while many of our students come to us from the most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged communities, Lincoln University is consistently ranked as a top performer in moving students from the lowest to the highest socioeconomic standings after graduation. In fact, Lincoln was most recently ranked favorably for social mobility in the latest U.S. News & World Report.

But these achievements are hard fought and nearly impossible without the ongoing support and generosity of philanthropic partners. As we set our sights on the future of our historic institution, particularly after two tumultuous years of unprecedented hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Lincoln University is seeking significant financial investments to deepen our commitment to students.

As such, The Lincoln University Promise Fund was established to sustain the legacy of the nation's first degree-granting HBCU by ensuring the institution has the financial flexibility to keep its promise to all students who aspire to higher education. Gifts to The Lincoln University Promise Fund will bolster the University's areas of greatest necessity and allow us to be agile and responsive to the needs of our students, faculty, staff, facilities and community members.

When making an unrestricted gift to The Lincoln University Promise Fund, you are maximizing the impact of your generosity by allowing us to respond to the ever-changing needs of the University, several of which may fall in the following categories:

* Need-Based Scholarships: to ensure every student who enrolls at Lincoln University is guaranteed an uninterrupted post-secondary education, while alleviating the financial burden many of our students and their families carry.

* Internships and co-curricular opportunities: to offer every student an opportunity to participate in experiential learning, in preparation to compete in a 21st century economy.

* Faculty and staff development: to attract, train and retain faculty and staff through comprehensive professional development and establishing endowed chair positions.

* Digital infrastructure: to upgrade and adopt new campus-wide digital tools and processes and position Lincoln at the forefront of academic and operational technologies.

* COVID-19 Safety & Health Protocols: to be responsive to the evolving state of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff while they are on campus.
