Jones, a 2007 Hall of Fame Inductee to the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Association, affectionately known as “Coach,” led the Lincoln University track & field team to 15 NCAA Division III championships. In his 36 years as head coach, the teams won 15 national titles. A six-time recipient of the Division III National Coach of the Year award and a Mid East Region Track Coach of the Year, Coach relied on his legendary penchant for bonding with athletes and his deep knowledge of the sport to build the program over time. Coach Jones served as Lincoln’s athletic director and was a tenured professor. Coach was honored as one of the top 100 sports figures in the Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Tribune. On October 12, 2024, the newly renovated running track was named after him. |
